PMI-GLC President’s Message – February 2012

Dear Member,

As the largest chapter of project leaders in Michigan, primary focus of Great Lakes Chapter is to enrich the knowledge, skills, careers, and maturity of its members in leading projects for stakeholders’ competitive advantage. With this perspective, GLC team has planned many professional events to provide opportunities to earn PDUs, network with your peers in Metro Detroit, and enhance your career.

In the Effective Project Leadership seminar series, we have planned 3 seminars in the month of March apart from monthly dinner meeting and forum event. I would encourage you to check out the website and take benefit of on-line and in-class sessions of this seminar series.

Also, PMI is accepting nominations for the 2012 PMI Project of the Year Award are due on 1 March. The 2012 PMI Project of the Year (POY) Award recognizes the accomplishments of a project and project team for superior performance and exemplary execution of project management. Project should have been complete in 2011. Do you think your project needs special recognition, follow this link for detailed information on this award’s criteria, nomination procedures, nomination requirements and award recipient selection process. http://bit.ly/yrxnDT

PMI offers an exclusive and excellent benefit to its members in the form of access to electronic library called eReads & Reference. It provides online access to 250 complete and unabridged books from PMI and other leading publishers. Topics include project management, leadership, teams, cross-cultural business, knowledge management and more. I encourage all members to take benefit of this service by Books24x7.com. This benefit might be worth more than the membership price (strictly my opinion). Here is the link to resource http://bit.ly/zjIm8j

Another update is on the PMI membership area. The PMI Board of Directors has approved an increase of US$10 to regular membership dues. Effective 1 April 2012, dues for regular members will be US$129. There is no change for Great Lakes Chapter membership dues. Here is link to FAQs on the topic http://bit.ly/AoBwha

As you renew your membership, please do not forget to update and verify your email address and employer info. All PMI-GLC communications are sent to the email address you provide to PMI. Please check your profile at PMI using the link http://bit.ly/x2nhje
